In The Community

At QBE, community matters and we are proud to be active community members. We are dedicated to engaging in community initiatives both on a local and global scale. Our community involvement also drives employee engagement by supporting charitable causes championed by our employees.

Youth Without Shelter
In Canada, our chosen charity is the Youth Without Shelter.

Youth Without Shelter is an emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth. Youth Without Shelter provides many services to at risk youth including:

  • Residential Program - Emergency accommodation for up to 30 youth each night. The residential program meets the immediate needs of the youth by providing them with what is most needed.
  • Steps to Success Program - Basic life skills, social skills and/or educational workshops as building blocks to assist youth in finding employment, completing their education and securing independent living.
  • Employment Program - The program aims to alleviate the barriers homeless youth encounter in finding and maintaining employment such as: literacy, legal issues and lack of financial resources to access appropriate foot and work wear.
  • Housing Program - Workers focus on placing youth in permanent, affordable housing. The program addresses the obstacles faced by homeless youth that interfere with the achievement of independent and stable living.
  • Stay in School Program - Removes the barriers a homeless youth faces in completing their education by providing a safe and stable environment to live in and support and guidance from qualified staff.

The QBE Foundation
Globally, QBE founded The QBE Foundation in 2011.

The QBE Foundation supports charities that help people overcome disadvantage, strengthen their abilities, and live more independently, successfully and productively.

The goal of the foundation is to give back to the communities in which QBE operates, with a co-ordinated approach to grants, employee matching and volunteer opportunities.

The QBE Foundation Committee is responsible for reviewing all submissions and will make it’s funding decisions for the benefit of the community and in alignment with the philosophy of the Foundation.
